Collins, Suzanne. Hunger Games. New York: Scholastic Press, 2008. Print.
For the opening ceremonies of the Hunger Games, Katniss's stylist dressed her up so she could not be forgotten. They make it so her costume looks like it's on fire. "A few hours later, I am dressed in what will either be the most sensational or the deadliest costume in the opening cermonies. I'm in a simple black unitard that covers me from ankle to neck. Shiny leather boots lace up to my knees. But it's the fluttering cape made of streams of orange, yellow, and red mathing the headpiece that define this costume. Cinna plans to light them on fire just before our chariot rolls into the streets" (Collins 57). That was a direct characterization.

The character I am writing about is Ponyboy Curtis. Something about Ponyboy is that he is a greaser. The thing that is different about him is that he is quiet and doesn't mouth off. (..." but I am a greaser and most of my neighborhood rarely bothers to get a haircuts".)

Callie get's overwhelmed every time she think about seeing Katherine's dead body. "I'm too overwhelmed to speak".
(Strasser, 34)
I think it is direct characterization because it's shows her physical traits.

Mark is has a good personality. He does baseball, skateboards, and plays cards. He has one good friend. "There's the smell of April dirt under my feet as I wind and pitch and wind again" (Turner 21). This is indirect characterization.

The author uses direct charcterization about Jonah because she describes how he was afriad of hieghts. He had to go up in the crows nest or how they call it the "top"in the book and had to be John Hudson. "He looked down again. They were so high up now that the Discovery didn't look huge anymore. It looked tiny beneth them-like a toy bobbing up and down in the endless, open bay. Jonah felt dizzy.Dizzy and terrified.(Hadixx 88)"

Carter, Ally. "Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover". New York: Scholastic Inc, 2009. Print.
The main character Macey is very dramatic. She started yelling and making a big deal about wearing the jeans her mom bought for her because she didn't like them. "Macey was too dramatic." (Carter 5). This was a direct characterization.

The character i am writing about is Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy is a greaser, but likes to get good grades in school dont get fooled by his bad boy look. He really is a good kid. " I make good grades and have a high IQ and everything, but i don't use my head."(Hinton #4)
